National Autism Awareness Month

Autism is a complex developmental disability that generally surfaces during the first three years of someones life. It affects the persons' ability to communicate and interact with others, however, the disease varies in degree and affects every individual differently. There is no known single cause for autism, but education about the disease and raising awareness can help families and others suffering from autism.

Since the 1970's, the Autism Society of America (ASA) has dedicated April to raising awareness about autism. This April and all year long, support those fighting the disease, as well as those who are affected by it, through personal relationships with family members and friends, with promotional ribbon magnets and awareness bracelets. There are also many events all month long that you can attend as well as donating money for the cause.
