Humane Society Anniversary Day

On November 22, 1954 the Humane Society of the United States was established. Their mission to “celebrate animals and confront cruelty” has been widely successful as they continue to advocate for the well-being of animals around the world. Some of the Humane Society’s widest spread efforts include their campaigns against dog fighting, cockfighting and puppy mills. With more than ten million members and constituents, the HSUS is most prominent supporter of local humane societies throughout the United States. Thanks to their efforts, the lives of countless animals- both pets and wild life- have been saved and improved.

On this day, consider volunteering at your local animal shelter or getting involved in community efforts to promote animal welfare. If you have pets or companion animals, don’t forget to treat them to a special toy or treat to show your appreciation.
