Great American Smokeout (November 20)

Why risk your health? It’s time to quit smoking!

Despite the truth of the dire health consequences correlated to smoking and second hand smoke, there are still many reasons why people smoke cigarettes that stem from physiological fulfillment as well as psychological pleasure.

Tomorrow is the National Great American Smokeout, a great initiative for smokers to stop this unhealthy habit. Despite the difficulty of quitting smoking, you can mark tomorrow as the end or final parting with you and that cigarette; you don’t have to go at it alone!

Aesthetically, smoking can accelerate the aging process of your skin but even more importantly, smoking cigarettes kills more Americans than alcohol, car accidents, suicide, AIDS, homicide, and illegal drugs combined. If you don’t quit for yourself then quit for others. Secondhand smoke exposure causes disease and premature death amongst nonsmokers and children.

It is your decision to preserve your health and the wellbeing of others. Gain support of friends, family, and co-workers in order to tackle the reasons why you started smoking in the first place. The Great American Smokeout can be the perfect catalyst for your new beginning.
