World Fair Trade Day

World Fair Trade Day was first celebrated in 2005 as an effort to promote trade based on dialogue, transparency, respect, and greater equity. It is now organized annually by the International Fair Trade Association, and is celebrated on the second Saturday of May. Participants in this event strive to create opportunities for economically disadvantaged producers, improve working conditions, encourage environmental accountability, and more. Each year the event has a different theme around which the celebration is coordinated.

If you'd like to get involved and help promote Fair Trade Day, there are a variety of posters and banners at the official website that can help point others in the right direction. The more we do to get the word out, the better chance we have of achieving the IFTA's goals of equality and fair trade.
